The Happy Smiley Face by Diane Ogden

Truly I totally need to go shopping.  I have several work outfits that I love, but one day my old washer malfunctioned whereas the bleach dispenser dispensed during the next load.  That load being "not white."  So all my cutsie little work outfits now have holes where there used to be fabric. Colored fabric no less.  I stop at my bank with flesh showing thru the fabic of my cutsie little not so cutsie work outfits.  I don't work in an office, but still....come on?  I did go shopping and it was pure and simple robbery.  I am going to get the RosettaStone learn to speak Chinese...just in case they take over....and I need to shop directly from them.  Right now I pay Sam Walton's kids who ruined Wal Mart anyway, so why would I want to reward them?  I don't.  Soooo, the last time I was at the grocery store, I picked up a packet of iron on patches.  Beige, blue, melon, white, and I forget the other color.  No more flesh peeking thru at the bank tellers. But the patch was so darn obvious I decided to use my grand sense of humor, went for the markers and whalla....The Happy Smiley Face. I am now back in good graces with the kid tellers where I bank. They think I should be on the radio with my one liners anyway... Maybe I'll wear my Smiley shirt if I get to go there.  Maybe not.

What is Happiness? Babbette is!

Happiness is Babbette and Chris!(My son and his special friend) Except the part of too much raw food and psyllium husks! We won't go there. Babbette is fairy bells and hugs and giggles and guitars.... meditating and miracles, facepainting and feathers, love of animals and humans, and most of all quiet when necessary. Her and Chris listen... never a judgmental word toward anyone. I didn't know I was surrounded by unhappiness until they came and stayed at my home for several days....  Their happiness has been earned by following simple "happiness rules." Not that they read the Secret, or the Bible, or Charles Dwyer (is that the right name?)Those books are wonderful and help many... But those two human people read the Universe and all that surrounds them. They listen to the animals and are one with the planet. They harbor no anger or other such negatives.  They aren't perfect, but darn close.  So when they left yesterday their happiness seemed to stay for the rest of the day.  Then this morning it was gone and I felt a deep emptiness without "them." Or was it without their happiness.  I couldn't stop singing "I Got a Brand New Pair of Roller Skates," you got a brand new key... Babbette plays her guitar and sings that with such sweetness although I do wish it would leave my head now.  It's starting to border on OCD or some disorder like roller skating tics.  I don't know the rest of the song so one can imagine the annoyance of one line over and over even in the middle of the night.  Suppose its a message telling me to "get happiness."  Ok, sure...I'll go hug a tree and eat some raw food and talk to my dog some more.  Not!  Suspect it goes a tad deeper than that. It's just so quiet here without the fairy bells around her neck and Chris's gentleness. Her giggle is only a memory.  Yet I am ever thankful I got to meet and know her thru Chris.  She will forever be a happy thought. Maybe there really are fairies...  I know there are Angels so why not fairies? You just jingle the fairy bells and they make a way for you just like the Angels..  I wonder if there are Angel bells?  My mentor says the Angels respond to praying in spirit language.  Fairy bells or Spirit language. I'll do both...it's always nice to connect the tangible to the spirit....with "tiny bells?"

I Found a Snow Fairy!

I was searching the web for fairy bells...no not fairy balls! O' dear...look what I found.

Millet Mouth!

You know how all the movie stars get to do the "Got Milk" ads?   Well I have my own "Got Millet." Yes my son is a raw food person. He eats nothing that has more than two ingrediants.  I have not been feeling up to snuff...up to snuff, isn't that an interesting phrase?  Must mean I don't feel well enough to pack a wad of snuff under my lip. Ya think? Who is well enough to pull that one off?  Back to Got Millet.  Chris brings me a bowl of Millet, ala cart, with a spoon.  I said, "Where's the soy milk or hemp milk and fake sugar.  Millet is like puffed rice cereal.  So there I sat eating dry millet with a spoon.  Turns out it wasn't that bad..in fact it was pretty good.... they were sort of like tiny packing peanuts that fell on my shirt and stuck to me wherever they landed. Millet Mama is my new nick name...

Feeding Finnie and Red

So I have never fed a bird in my life.  Guess its time.  I always had cats for pets so feeding birds was not an option. In fact I have a cat at present who may not go out on the summer porch any more...  sorry Charlie, birdies are not for you!  Today Babbette and my son Chris went and purchased a bag of birdseed.  I found a little container that used to house Benefit Doggie food all naturaaal.  Finnie flew away when we opened the door .....but she came back.  We watched for a while and then WHALLA...she ventured over to the little green dish and ate festively.  Hope they don't get a tummy ache from overeating.

Finnie and Red

Finnie and Red arrived about a week and a half ago.  They peered at me from my Macy's on a budget front porch thru a glass window.  They sat on the rail and just peered at me turning their little heads side to side considering their eyes are on the sides of their heads. Then they jumped over to the Sheffalera I saved from a University of Wisconsin dumpster two or three years back.  Then up to the new impatient pot ahead of the ugly apt. porch lite.  As you know from past blogs I have had it with birds after living here for 6 plus years. Barn swallows at least.  But these little characters were different. They weren't head diving me, squacking at me, skimming my little dogs head to the place she was frightened to poddie outside which can be a very bad thing.  I kept seeing the little birdies, finches actually coming and going but could not figure out what they were up to.  I would let my cat out on the porch and all the other birds would go nuts but not Finnie and Red. When I figured out they had nested in the Pink Impatient plant I was like oohh nooo.  How will I water it?  And if I don't water it their shelter and camoflauge will be GONE! And the babies will die and so on.  Then my son from Los Angeles arrives to surprise me. SURPRISE. He and his friend Babette. Yes Babette.  And is she a sweatheart.  She tells me the birds are here to offer me a message.  I think, "ya right."  But then she gives me an Indian Spiritual book on how the animals speak to us. Babette also believes the finches came to make peace between myself and the Swallows. humm. I suppose it's true. I looked up the finch and discovered these are Purple Finches.  Even tho not purple. So the book said, "Anytime a finch arrives life is going to become more active.." And whoa I got two finches. Now I have the look up the origin of the Purple Finch that migrates to Wisconsin. For instance the Dutch Pennsylvania Finch is a bird that brings happiness. And that is what these little precious birds are.  Back to the swallows....

The Swallow represents objectivity. By keeping your objectivity you will be able to easily protect your home and add greater warmth to your life and the lives of those you touch. Very interesting day I would say...We are watering the edge of the Pink Impatient so as not to dampen the eggs of the MaMa Finnie. The kids are bringing back some Finnie Food later today.  Then maybe Red can hang around the "pot" a little more often instead of out hunting down seeds for his Finnie girl. I have never experienced little birds no afraid of me.  I don't have a fancy camera so you can see how close she let me get to take her 8 x 10 glossy! "Mr. DeMill I'm ready for my headshot!"  Can you see Finnie's little head looking at me from the center of the pot plant? Look again....

"The Streaker"

Isn't that the name of a train somewhere in our country? I think that is what an Ambulance should be named. People would move out of the way faster, be more appreciative and feel safer don't you agree? I "got to" ride the Streaker yesterday morning to the hospital. Fun huh? Scary too! I got to thinking and we all know that can end up on bloggerville, and it is. Where did the word AMBULANCE come from? When I hear it I automatically think of the word sick, fear, death, ambien, and lancing boils eeeww. Wouldn't STREAKER be better. Of course it would remind everyone of someone naked and running.  Beats lancing boils and death and all that. I was always told to imagine people naked if they made me nervous or if I were speaking in front of a crowd. See it makes you laugh vs fear.  So I looked up the word and found a very dull answer for such an important vehicle. Its from the french words hospital ambulant which means mobile hospital (most likely horse drawn) and ambulant is from the latin word ambulant which means to walk. WALK? Mobile Hospital is understandable, but walk?? See what I mean? It should be a STREAKING MOBILE HOSPITAL. "The Streaker." Silver and Red with Red White and Blue lites. One more thing.... air ride shock system would be great.  I was dizzy and whaoo mama that ride was like the Streaker at the fair.  Well felt that way anyway. Truth be said, I am thankful for the Ambulant and the fellows inside it.  Could have been a real horse and buggy so no complaints from me. Just some ramblings. Probably side effects from the antibiotic. Don't you prefer The Streaker?"
