Peter Died.................by Diane Ogden

Peter was my friend.  Several years ago something bad happened to me and I had to start over in life.  In the area of finding a job that is.  Which wasn't happening so I took a job delivering newspapers.  I delivered The ONION and the University of Wisconsin Badger Herald and I forgot the other one (imagine that?) Oh yeah The Cardinal. And the Sustainable Times.  I over-loaded my blessed car every day and overloaded my back also.   It was too much work for a lady my size and for too long but I thanked the Universe and or God everyday that I had enough money to exist.  I did that for four or five years.  I didn't count.  While I did that I met a fellow named Peter Bell.  Peter was quite the different sort of person.  He had a photographic memory and would call me and telling me everything he ever remembered in life!!   Sometimes that was annoying.  Peter and I did not have a romantic relationship, rather he liked to call and visit.  He would stopped over maybe three times in the 4-5 years we knew each other and he called himself Uncle Peter to my cat and dog.  Peter knew hundreds of  jokes but I never could remember them.   Not until Peter died.  Then I remembered the last joke he ever told me and I cant forget it.

Why didn't the skeleton cross the road?
Because he didn't have any guts!

I know, its a dumb old joke, and Peter knew them all.  And I always laughed 'cause he needed that.
He told me about every island everywhere it seemed.  And actors and actress's from old movies and the old movies of which I never could remember because Peter was a few years older than I.  He also stood up for me at work when someone said I threw good papers away.  No one else believed me when I really didn't throw any papers away.  Sometimes in those sort of jobs (lower class) others who need the job set one up for such a nasty so they get fired. Guess they do that at higher class jobs too.  Regardless Peter was a constant to me and disregarded others taught.   He didn't believe in God.  The Nuns and Priests messed him up pretty bad at the Catholic school he went to.  Really bad in fact.  They told him even if he had sexual thoughts (and he was at that young man age where that is normal) that he would go to Hell.  He actually had to get psychiatric help when he was young due to the "religious") brainwashing.  Peter was a ballroom dancer.  He wooed the ladies at the Rosewood Apartments where he lived. And the ratio of men to women was 20-1!  So he was a busy fellow.  Peter had a Jerbal...crap I forget her name....   And Peter loved to sell things on his computer.  He retired from J.C. Penney's before he delivered newspapers.  Once he applied for a job as a shuttle driver for the airport.  Peter was always coming up with crazy ideas to make money.  And he usually made enough.  He had his own Tuxedo Printing Company on the side.  He was very proud when he was asked to make OBAMA buttons and or Obama car magnets.  He introduced me to Suzanne Beecher who is a writer.  Peter always told me I was an excellent writer and after I wrote my first novel (still sitting there needing tweaks) he called Suzanne who was so kind to send me a signed copy of her book and give me wonderful instructions on how to publish mine.  He also told me when he first saw me (in the dirty warehouse, no not whorehouse) that he just figured I was a lowlife.
Huh?  Seriously he did.  Then after he heard me speak and got to know me he told me I had more depth then he every imagined.  We could converse intellectually and that shocked him.  Peter was a bit of a chauvinist actually.  I knew about every one of his girlfriends from H.S.on.  And about all the ones that let him down on www.match.com.  Oh Lord that was a mess because Peter thought he was maybe a little better looking than true life.  He had no waist and no butt so his pants barely stayed up. He was bald and his glasses were I swear from the 60's so I told him it was time for an upgrade and some clothes that fit.  He listened and got new glasses and some new jeans.  Peter had ADD!  Peter never stopped talking.  If I wanted to say something I had to shout at him to STOP, IT'S MY TURN!  Then he would stop but for the most part he talked and I listened. I could talk while he was talking which I did sometimes just for fun and he never heard me!  Seriously. Peter told me when we die we all just go to different dirt.  I cracked up but then when I thought about it.....dang he was right.  Depending on how we do in life depends on what dirt we go to.  Doesn't that sound like the absolute truth?  From dust to dust / ashes to ashes?  I wonder if there are different ash piles?  Just kidding. Peter's sister Marge Jesberger from New England area called me and told me Peter had passed.  I didn't cry, but I got all giddy and weird. I don't know why.  I told her everything I could think of about Peter and our relationship.  Like she missed out knowing that part of him or something. I don't know.  I did cry later on.  Peter always printed all my mailing labels and my business magnet for my car as well as magnetic business cards  and so on.  He was just a swell person.  Annoying at times, but swell.  And I miss Peter Bell and his bad jokes and ADD and intelligent conversation.  Even though much of the time it was one-sided.  His!  I bet he is happy happy now.  He had to work too hard here on earth.

The Cross in Our Bodies...........borrowed by Diane Ogden

I do not usually share political (unless its Sarah Palin jokes) or Religious issues.  But this one came to me from my mentor of 36 years, her brother and written by a medical doctor.  Makes a "body" wonder.  Is that a pun?  Whatever is was it was good! "Body Wonder." I used to have an uncle by marriage who would laugh hardily at himself right after he finished a bad joke.  Odd thing was he was the only one laughing.  I don't think I am like that. I have a friend who will SNOPES this immediately.   I will let you know if it's bogus but I don't think so.

Subject: The cross in our bodies
This is a pretty neat story and an interesting thing that few of usknow. It's brief, so please read. (FROM A DOCTOR)
A couple of days ago I was running (I use that term very loosely) on my treadmill, watching a DVD sermon by Louie Giglio... And I was BLOWN AWAY! I want to share what I learned....
He (Louie) was talking about how inconceivably BIG our God is... How He spoke the universe into being.. How He breathes stars out of His mouth that are huge raging balls of fire.. Etc. Etc. Then He went on to speak of how this star-breathing, universe creating God ALSO knitted our human bodies together with amazing detail and wonder. At this point I am LOVING it (fascinating from a medical standpoint, you know.) .. And I was remembering how I was constantly amazed during medical school as I learned more and more about God's handiwork. I remember so many times thinking..'How can ANYONE deny that a Creator did all of this???'
Louie went on to talk about how we can trust that the God who created all this, also has the power to hold it all together when things seem to be falling apart...how our loving Creator is also our sustainer.
And then I lost my breath. And it wasn't because I was running my treadmill, either!!!

It was because he started talking about laminin. I knew about laminin.. Here is how Wikipedia describes them: 'Laminins are a family of proteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding of basement membranes in almost every animal tissue' You see.... Laminins are what hold us together... LITERALLY. They are cell adhesion molecules. They are what holds one cell of our bodies to the next cell. Without them, we would literally fall apart. And I knew all this already. But what I didn't know is what they LOOKED LIKE..
But now I do. And I have thought about it a thousand times since (already)....Here is what the structure of laminin looks like... AND THIS IS NOT a 'Christian portrayal' of it.... If you look up laminin in any scientific/medical piece of literature, this is what you will see....

Now tell me that our God is not the coolest!!! Amazing. The glue that holds us together.... ALL of us..... Is in the shape of the cross. Immediately Colossians 1:15-17 comes to mind. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. All things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him All things HOLD TOGETHER.' Colossians 1:15-17

Call me crazy. I just think that is very, very, very cool. Thousands of years before the world knew anything about laminin, Paul penned those words. And now we see that from a very LITERAL standpoint, we are held together... One cell to another.... By the cross.

You would never in a quadrillion years convince me that is anything other than the mark of a Creator who knew EXACTLY what laminin 'glue' would look like long before Adam breathed his first breath!!

What I found when I googled laminin !!!!!!!!!!!

This is cool - had to pass it on. I think we could all use a miracle. I know I certainly can!  (I am also believing for $90,000.00. Probably nothing to do with Laminin ya think?)  No this is from Rhonda Byrne. The Secret? I don't have any reason to need that particular amount of $90,000.00.  I just thought it was a good number for me.   And I hope this is a real live story.   Be safe, Be Well, Be Happy, and Get Rich like I am about to be!  You can eat better, think better, drive better, dress better, feel better, breath better, and drink better "stuff."  Chevis vs bar brand.  Just kidding, jeez.

Wisconsin Badger 5 .....................by Diane Ogden

So every week for several years I have purchased a Badger 5 blessed ticket with the same numbers each week.  4-12-13-21-22.   All my children's birth dates and mine, two being the same.  That being said I think I should knock this off and change it to the winning football team in the country.  Seriously people.  Winners are winners. Are my family winners?  They are normal folk but not touch downer's that get millions.  No offense kids....But hey I do numerology and I know...yet there is that lil measure of notsosurity.  You know?  Haven't you seen those folks win outathebluewho!  God told me once during a meditation that "Someone has to win!"  He also told me once during a meditation that he once knew a woman that prayed to win the lotto and she got overtime instead!!!"
That would be me.  Yet I have hope that one day I will hit it big.  I am DUE!  Do is a moving word...  Do it, Do it, Do it!  See its a word that expressed movement.  Well not necessarily positive movement but hey the lotto is never negative...the lotto is always positive HOPE.  That being said..... my $28 dollars a month is a good investment.  I have won many $1 and $2 and twice $50 dollars.   Whoopee eeww...  I am so afraid to stop buying the numbers I buy as the superstition overwhelms me.....
My Mother bought the same numbers for years and one week she did not and missed (SIT DOWN) $18,000.000.00 dollars.  I thought she was going to have a mental breakdown.  Not so sure I would blame her.  OMG...  But she has food so she's good.  Oh and a new car too.  And a farm and so on.
So until I find something interesting and or humorous, be happy, be safe, be well, and get the heck rich so you can stop buying one lotto a week and move on.  Maybe a new SUV and help for the sad animals.  I tell you when you die you will see something... And what you will see is  That you can talk to the animals.  Go ahead call me crazy lady today, but that day you will "get it."  And no lotto will mean anything then.
Nite.....

Selling Gold..............by Diane Ogden

Today I took a little drive to a small town I grew up in to visit the local Goldsmith who is an old acquaintance.  I had made the decision to sell my Grandad's Gold non-working and broken pocket watch and wanted that to be with someone I trusted.  I am a very sentimental person so this was very hard for me to do.  But hey, it has sat on my bedroom shelf along with his WWII dog tags and his sunglasses for a couple decades or so.  I thought of having the watch shell melted down into a nugget for a necklace but decided not to.  I did ask the watchmaker at William Howard Jewelry if it could be repaired.  He wasn't sure but he did wish to purchase it. He said he liked a challenge.  He wanted to purchase it but not for much because it was  gold filled..... The Goldsmith didn't really want it so Watchman gave me $25 or $35 I cant recall which.   I figured what the heck and moved onto the diamond earring I found laying on the ground that has been hanging around in my jewel box.  I wore it a few times but it wasn't the style I prefer so I sold it to the Goldsmith. I figured if I croaked (passed onto the next life) my kids might not even find the tiny thing or know it was REAL. So all in all my little trip to the little town blessed me with near $100.00.  I hope Grandad is not upset.  Probably not. If so he can go visit Bill Howard or the watchman!  So until next time.....you know the routine.  Be well, Be happy, Be safe, and get rich so you don't sell your Grandfathers pocket watch for pocket change.  (I didn't have to do that, I chose to)  Doesn't Grandad look like Rhett Butler a little?  I thought so too.

CULVER'S..................by Diane Ogden

For four days I have been dreaming of driving to a nearby town, two miles away, and getting myself a Culver's Chicken Cashew salad with French Dressing.  I rarely eat dressing but always eat brownies so obviously its not because of a calorie issue.  Today was the day!  I drove the two miles, through the 20 mph school zone right at the wrong time which is how the day seemed to go anyway.... up to the window and ordered "it."   Then I said, "Ma-am, that would be French dressing as in Frank.  She said, "Huh?"   I said, "F as in Frank, French Dressing please."   I have to pull up past the pay window and do the number on the window deal and wait.  No worries.  I get my four day waited for salad and bee bop home.  Get all hunkered down and open the bag and wtfrontdoor?   I have R as in how stupid can you be RANCH? I am allergic to milk! I am livid.  Yes livid.  I have no nadda none dressing in my house.  I have brownies, but no dressing.  I go to my computer and google Culver's Verona, Wisconsin.  I get the number and call.  I hear capaso amigo (okay something like that) on the other end.  I ask for the manager in all good hopes that isn't him.(And thank God it wasn't Jane from India.)  Tim comes to the phone.  I tell him the problem and he says so sorry and offers me a free sundae.  I calmly say, "Tim, I am lactose intolerant" and wait for him to offer something else.  Nope just a sorry.  I just hung up the smart phone and mixed up some mayonnaise, flax milk and sugar for my dressing! Was it good.  Nope but I ate it anyway.  No tang like the french.  Then I had a brownie.
I should have gotten a FREE Culver's Chicken Cashew Salad considering these facts.  Maybe I should call my pre paid legal service.  Nah.
Sooo, until I have another mishap, or find something interesting or funny.  Be safe, Be Well,  Be Happy, and get Rich so you can buy a Chicken Cashew Salad every day or even buy Culver's.
The dog liked it!   I know isn't that a hilarious photo of a truly precious 6 lb-er.  Reminds me of how we used to put our faces to close to the chrome toasters as kids and our nose looked all big.  ha

Cigarettes, Wedding Cake, and Scotch.............by Diane Ogden

I don't get horrifically stressed to often but I did this morning.  And after a couple hours and no heart attack I suddenly had the urge for a cigarette.  I quit smoking ten years ago July!  And here I am standing in my kitchen craving a cigarette or even a long tasty cigar which would have helped along he heart attack for sure.  No worries I didn't run out in the freezing cold, start my Buick and head for the Kwik Trip and spend, what are they now?  $7.50 a pack Jack?  Even if they are bad that is sheer robbery.  I survived the momentary craving and moved on.  Actually it happened twice this morning.

I have always said,  "If I am ever told I have terminal anything (except terminal stress) I will go out and purchase and carton (one will kill me!) of cigarettes, a wedding cake (I love the old fashioned heart attack frosting on white wedding cakes), and a bottle of good Scotch.  That'd be enough to do me under.  No morphine needed, no bridge needed, no gun needed, no bottle of pills, no rope, no river, no mac truck, no brick wall, (you can see I have put some thought into this - NOT!)

Nope the Sugar, Nicotine, and Scotch would have DEAD written all over them.  But what a way to go!!  My only fear is if it is the A word (Alzheimer's) I might forget to do it.

So until next time and if I remember.....be well, be happy, be safe, and be WELL.  And get rich so you can hire a hit man for yourself if you need to.

Wisconsin Winterwonderland... January 2013 ...by Diane Ogden

The meteorologists said this was coming and indeed it did. There are snowstorms, blizzards, and so on but this one was a beauty.  When I say beauty I don't mean a blizzard ....I mean it was beautiful.  Teens say "bad" when they mean good....but this was GOOD.  No one died....and it was a true winter wonderland called awesome.  I couldn't stop taking pictures even tho some didn't seem to turn out as good as what I was looking at.  Humm.   The snow was heavy...some snow is light and breezy, some is heavy and packing, some is wet and sloshie....  This was a good packing snow.  Long as my 6 lb. little girl dog can find a spot to pee wee are good.  So from this Northern Territory of Happy Snow...   Be Happy, Be Safe, Be Well, and get the heck rich so you can buy a sled, or good tires, or a snowboard, or a vacation trip to Florida to get the H outta this here place after that pretty snow gets dirty brownish gray.... Pretty or not Fred....(it's twenty below ......   nite
